July 31st was the date when Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey welcomed Kansas City native Misty Copeland home. Misty was the special guest at two private receptions and a public event, A Conversation with Misty Copeland, with Vivien Jennings, Rainy Day Books; at Unity Temple on the Plaza. Misty shared her journey and discussed her New York Times bestseller, Ballerina Body: Dancing and Eating Your Way to a Leaner, Stronger and More Graceful You.
