Mr. and Mrs. Richard William Wiedeman of Asheville, North Carolina, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Genevieve Carolina Wiedeman, to Michael Andrew Bernard, the son of Mrs. J. Michael Bernard of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and the late Mr. Bernard. Genevieve is the granddaughter of the late Mary Lou Alcala, the late Mr. Ramiro G. Alcala, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Walter Wiedeman. Mikey is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Charles Shadley; and Mrs. Walter Vincent Bernard of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and the late Mr. Bernard.
Genevieve graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy and earned a bachelor of arts degree from The University of Kansas, where she became a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Genevieve was presented at The Jewel Ball in 2017. She is employed with Spinal Simplicity in Chicago, Illinois. Mikey graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy, and earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. He also earned a post-graduate degree as a CPA from the same university. He is employed with Golub Capital in Chicago, Illinois. The couple is planning a June 6th wedding at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
