Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Gilbert Bainter of Derby, Kansas, and Mr. and Mrs. Leeland Amos Frantz of Mulvane, Kansas, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Courtney Elizabeth Frantz, to James Zachariah Mullin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lenuel “Lenny” Mullin II of Lenexa. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon John Gericke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Richard Frantz of Ottumwa, Iowa. Courtney is a graduate of Derby High School in Derby, Kansas. She earned a bachelor of science degree in family studies and human services from Kansas State University and is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Courtney received a master of public administration degree and a master of social work degree from Ohio State University. Courtney is careering with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in Columbus, Ohio.

Her groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Herschel Lavoy Manuel of Lenexa and the late Mr. Manuel and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ross Mullin of Lenexa. James is a graduate of Mill Valley High School in Shawnee. He was an escort in the Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties Community Ball and Cotillion in 2008. James earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial and manufacturing systems engineering from Kansas State University. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and is employed with Procter and Gamble in Lima, Ohio. Theirs will be a May 23rd wedding at Mill Creek Community Church in Shawnee, Kansas.
