Mr. and Mrs. Michael Scott Burford of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Burford, to John Robertson Spangler, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lindley Spangler of Leawood, Kansas. Mary is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Eugene West, and Mrs. Merrill Leslie Burford of Lee’s Summit, and the late Mr. Burford. Jack is the grandson of Mr. Herbert Hayen Weidensaul of Lawrence, Kansas, and the late Mrs. Weidensaul; and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Crockett Spangler.
Mary is a graduate of Lee’s Summit North High School, and she earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from the University of Missouri, where she became a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She also earned a master of business administration degree from the University of Connecticut. Mary is employed with PepsiCo. Jack is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School, and he earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from The University of Kansas, where he became a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Jack was a Gentleman of The Jewel Ball in 2005, and a BOTAR Escort in 2009. He is employed with Evos.
The couple will celebrate with a wedding ceremony at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 15th.
