Mr. and Mrs. Charles Samuel Sosland of Our Town are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Sosland, to Benton Ashley Smith, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Benton Smith of Sanford, North Carolina. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morton Irvin Sosland of Our Town and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Joseph Ryan, Jr. Sarah is a graduate of The Pembroke Hill School. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish and art history from Georgetown University. Sarah was a Jewel Ball debutante in 2000. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in speech-language pathology at The University of Kansas. Her groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Levi Smith of Our Town and the late Dortha Marie Aulgur and the late Mr. David Leroy Richard. Benton is a graduate of Lee Christian School in Sanford, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Benton careers as a sportswriter with The Lawrence Journal-World. Theirs will be a September 1st wedding at Unity Temple on the Plaza.
