Mr. and Mrs. David H. Freirich of Mission Hills are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Ann Freirich, to Michael Scott Foster, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Foster of Lake Quivira. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weisman Hirsch and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerry B. Freirich. Melissa is a graduate of The Pembroke Hill School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in elementary education from Loyola University Chicago. Melissa is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Her groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kasmar and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Foster. Michael is a graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.  He was an escort in the Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties Community Ball and Cotillion in 2000. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Drake University and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri –Kansas City. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and is careering as an attorney with Polsinelli Shughart. Theirs will be a December 29th wedding at the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza.
