Congratulations, Monica & David!
Doctors Charles and Susan Porter of Our Town are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Monica Leigh Porter, to Captain David Thomas Collins, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Collins of Vero Beach, Florida. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Lieutenant Colonel Donald Smith (USAF, retired) of Kansas City and the late Mary Lee Smith and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Charles Porter. Monica is a graduate of Notre Dame de Sion High School. She earned bachelor of science degrees in international studies, Spanish and communications from Southern Methodist University and a master of science degree in architecture from The University of Kansas. Monica is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and is careering with The Beck Group in Dallas,Texas.
Her groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Raymond Fleigh of Raleigh, North Carolina, and the late Colonel Fleigh, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Atkins Collins. David is a graduate of Vero Beach High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in political science from the United States Military Academy at West Point. David is a Captain in the United States Army serving in the Field Artillery branch. He is currently assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. Theirs will be an August 31st wedding at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, followed by a reception at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
