JLKCMO – Healthy U
The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, developed Healthy U in partnership with University Academy from 2010 through 2015 to teach its students about nutrition and fitness. Thanks to their efforts, more than 155,000 pounds of healthy food was sent home with children over the weekends and summer months through the Harvesters Backsnack project and 92 percent of participants in the Family Dinner project implemented a behavioral change related to healthier living. Holiday Mart 2015 will be held from October 22nd through the 25th at Bartle Hall. Proceeds from the event will contribute to the League’s new focus area on women and children, which will include original programming aimed at reducing abuse and neglect, promoting children’s development and supporting women’s self-sustainability.
