Operation Breakthrough – Big Dreams, Bright Futures
More than 850 guests gathered for Operation Breakthrough’s 20th annual Big Dreams, Bright Futures event on April 27th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. The evening honored Jean and Bill Dunn, Sr., who were the honorary chairmen; and the Dunn family. Joan Cohen and Tammy Ham, board members; served as event co-chairmen. Capital Campaign Co-chairmen Judy Heeter and Jack Kilroy were among the speakers. Funds raised by the Capital Campaign will be used to enroll an additional 290 students, purchase and renovate a building and add a walking bridge across Troost Avenue which will connect the current building with the new one. Miesha Miller, the evening’s emcee; attended Operation Breakthrough. A graduate of Howard University, she is now a reporting fellow at Reuters in New York.
