Jackson County CASA – Light of Hope Breakfast
April 20th was the date for Jackson County CASA’s Light of Hope Breakfast, which was held at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. CASA was founded in 1983 by the Kansas City Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women, and the event celebrated the organization’s 40th anniversary. The honorary chair was Jeff Blaesing, who showed photos of the newly renovated and expanded CASA building. Gabriella Pagán, the award-winning journalist, served as the keynote speaker. The emcee was Jake Jacobson. The Teresa Rabideau Award for Volunteer Excellence was given to Bill Nelson, CASA volunteer. This year’s Light of Hope Award was given to the entire CASA volunteer corps for service and dedication to children who are in the Family Court system due to abuse or neglect.
