Genesis Promise Academy – Slammin’ & Jammin’
The second annual Slammin’ & Jammin’ for Genesis was held on May 13th at the Carriage Club. Joanne and John Bluford served as the honorary chairmen. Mayor Sly James was honored for his years of service as board president. The tennis-inspired event featured a cocktail party, dinner and auctions. The next day, guests returned to watch a tennis tournament whose players were the pros from 16 clubs. Those in the mood to test their luck could “buy” a team and win prizes if the pros they chose made it to the championship match. The United States Tennis Association provides a tennis and learning curriculum that teaches self-esteem and goal setting to Genesis students.
