The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens – Stems: A Garden Soirée
The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens was the place for Stems: A Garden Soirée. Anne and Wayne Byrd served as the honorary chairmen. The June 26th event benefited The Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park and its support of the Arboretum, Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, and public arts projects in the City of Overland Park. Much conversation centered around LongHouse, a building soon to be under construction at the Arboretum. The name is in honor of Janet Long – and also a nod to the longhouses of old, where community members in ancient cultures gathered. When completed, it will be the site for numerous learning opportunities. In addition to a café and a gift shop, LongHouse will have a premier event space overlooking a terrace and a new water feature.
