The Independent's Rising Stars

Each year, community members and subscribers nominate various Kansas Citians to be chosen for The Independent’s Class of Rising Stars. From these nominations, The Independent selects a class of dedicated volunteers as that year’s Rising Stars. These Rising Stars are passionate about philanthropic fundraising, volunteerism, and community awareness. Their leadership style is effective, creative, and impactful. Each Rising Star serves as an example to others in Kansas City and beyond. The Rising Stars are celebrated at a private reception in February, throughout the year in the magazine, and on social media.
