Cheers to Volunteers! – Tom Reorda
Last summer, the Kansas City Royals invited Tom Reorda to sit in the Buck O’Neil legacy seat during a game. At a September luncheon, Tom received the Harvesters’ Circle of Hope Award as Hunger Champion – Individual. These are huge honors — what did Tom do to deserve them? The answer: Plenty! Tom first volunteered with Harvesters in 2010. He has given more than 250 hours of his time in support of a variety of events, including Operation Bread Basket, Forks & Corks, Check Out Hunger, and Take Your Can to Work Day, as well as food drives hosted by Dunkin’ Donuts and Mercedes Benz. Tom has lent his expertise to special projects, such as the 2014 study, Feeding America’s Hunger. A year ago, he decided to become a trained Harvesters’ Lunch Challenge facilitator, and he has already assisted in five Lunch Challenges with a total of 146 participants. Thank you, Tom, for all you do for Harvesters!
